IOWA STATE SYMPHONY PREMIERES FULLMETAL
February 7, 2016

Every year, the ISU Symphony showcases some of the best student musicians on campus during its annual Concert of Soloists. Students compete in a multi-staged competition to have the opportunity to solo with the ISU Symphony. This year's winners are Maia Hove on the violin and Louis Dupuis on the alto-saxophone. The concert also features the world premiere of a brand new piece of music commissioned for the ISU Symphony and composed as an homage to the genre of Japanese Anime. Michael-Thomas Foumai, the composer of the new work, will be in residence at Iowa State the week of the concert and will work with the orchestra and our music students.

Smith - Fantasia for Alto Saxophone - Louis Dupuis, alto saxophone
Foumai - Fullmetal - ISU Symphony commission and world premiere
