COMPOSERS CONFERENCE AT WELLESLEY COLLEGE COMMISSION

The Composers Conference and Chamber Music Center at Wellesley College has commissioned a new work (wind quintet + trumpet) for amateur performers during the conference on July 20 -August 3, 2014. The commission has been made possible through the genrosity of Amateur Chamber Music Players and the Clinton B. Ford Fund of its ACMP Foundation, an organization that promotes chamber music activities for amateur musicians.

The Composers Conference and Chamber Music Workshops, guided for nearly 40 years by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer, Mario Davidovsky, provides a unique two-fold experience: First, it gives a select number of young, emerging composers the opportunity to immerse themselves in an intense two-week composition workshop as well as showcase one of their compositions in a live, professional concert. Second, it offers for talented amateur chamber musicians a stimulating workshop environment that features professional coaching from our nationally-renowned faculty members, as well as opportunities for large-ensemble readings, masterclasses, workshops, concerts, and much more.
