PROGRAM NOTE

In the Synoptic Gospels of the Bible, Judas Iscariot identifies Jesus with a kiss in the garden of Gethsemane which leads to his arrest by the Sanhedrin. It is a pivotal moment in the Gospels and one that represents an ultimate betryal through a gesture often associated with trust and affection. The work attempts to express the inner turmoil of the betraying apostle Judas, and the affliction of that act which would lead to Christ's crucifixtion and Juda's suicide.
